The Shingekijoban Gintama -Yoshiwara Daienjo- anime movie has received a main trailer and main poster, as well as a February 13, 2026 release date.
It was also announced that SUPER BEAVER‘s “Sanzen” (previewed in the trailer) is the theme song, and that a novelization of the film will be released on its premiere date.
The new film adapts the “Yoshiwara Enjo” arc that was previously covered by the TV series from Episode 139 to 146.
Gintama is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Hideaki Sorachi, which began in 2003 and released its 77th and final tankobon volume in 2019. Crunchyroll describes the TV anime as such:
In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
The Gintama TV anime premiered in 2006 and ran until 2018 for four seasons. Besides the TV series, there are a few anime movies, including 2021’s Gintama THE FINAL and the recent Gintama on Theater 2D films which are theatrical re-edits of previously adapted arcs.
The manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump for most of its run, but some later chapters were published in Jump GIGA in 2019, while the concluding chapters were released via a Gintama app. Twenty-three volumes were published in English by Viz Media.
An anime adaptation of the 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei spin-off premiered in October of this year.
