World Trigger Reboot Drops “Black Trigger Capture Arc” Teaser

The World Trigger “REBOOT project” announced last year now has a teaser for the “Black Trigger Capture Arc,” which comprised Episode 7 to 16 of the original anime’s 2014 first season (in the source manga, it is the very first arc). There’s no complete footage of the new anime to see yet, however, with the video from Toei Animation primarily revealing character model sheets and the names of main cast and staff members.

Those main staff members include Morio Hatano (World Trigger Season 2 and 3) as series director, Hiroyuki Yoshino (World Trigger Season 2 and 3, first part of Season 1) as series composer, and Toshihisa Kaiya (World Trigger character designer [co-credit in Season 1]). The announced cast members are also composed of returning names: Tomo Muranaka as Yūma Kuga, Yuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo, Nao Tamura as Chika Amatori, Yuichi Nakamura as Yūichi Jin, and Hideyuki Tanaka as Replica.

It was also announced that an exhibition, titled Anime WORLD TRIGGER Exhibition “REBOOT, will be held this year at Tokyo and Osaka. The Tokyo exhibition will run from August 11 to September 1 at Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City Exhibition Hall C, while the Osaka one will run from November 14 to December 6 on a section of the ATC ITM building’s fourth floor.

The original World Trigger manga by Daisuke Ashihara began in 2013 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump (it moved to Jump Square in 2018) and has 29 volumes as of 2025. The action title sees Earth battling against monsters called Neighbors. MANGA Plus describes the synopsis as such:

Earth is under constant threat from Neighbors, invincible monsters from another dimension that destroy our way of life. At least we have the elite warriors of Border, who co-opt alien technology to fight back! Our hero Osamu Mikumo may not be the best agent, but he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it. When Osamu meets a feisty humanoid Neighbor named Yuma, everything that he thinks is right is turned on its head. Can the two natural enemies ever become friends?

The previous World Trigger anime’s first season had 73 episodes, with the second and third having 12 and 14, respectively. Season 3 begin airing in 2021.
