It’s been nine years now, since we relaunched as a fully reader-supported publication. At the time, we had set out with a mission, to become a publication that would pay fair rates to our editorial team and writers, while maintaining a sustainable publication cycle. And, in those nine years, we’ve worked tirelessly to live up to those ideals, while we keep expenses down, and steadily raise the floor on article rates. It’s been a long, slow march, but we’ve been able to dedicate the majority of our funds to the folks who help make Anime Herald into the publication you enjoy today. Today, we’re in a pretty good place. Earlier this year, we were able to raise our rates to $60 per article, and we’ve been making moves to restart our short-form columns later this year. Last year was the first where we were able to break even for much of the year, which was a cause for celebration. We’re hoping to continue that this year, so that we can continue to fund amazing stories and articles for fans of all ages.
