Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Breaks US$700 Million Barrier With China Debut

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle (Gekijoban “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Mugenjou-hen Daiisshou Akaza Sairai) has passed the US$700 million mark globally after receiving a sizeable ~US$50 million boost from China, where it opened on November 14. At the time of writing, the China Movie Database lists a total China gross of 398.18 million yuan (~US$56 million), while Maoyan has 383.89 million yuan listed. 

According to Deadline, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle had a strong IMAX performance in China, towering over previous Japanese titles and achieving the second biggest IMAX opening among animated titles (second to Ne Zha 2, which made more than US$1.9 billion in general in China). A press release from IMAX says that “One in every five tickets sold for ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ was a ticket for IMAX.”

For the film’s global tally, Box Office Mojo currently says it has amassed ~US$729.98 million, putting it at fifth place on the ranking of top 2025 performers. In the US, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has made ~US$133 million since its September 12 opening.

In Japan, where it premiered on July 18, it has yet to best the over 40 billion yen gross of 2020’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train, remaining as the country’s second-highest-grossing film of all time with ~37.9 billion yen (~US$244.98 million).

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first in a trilogy of movies that will close the Demon Slayer saga with a series of final battles. The Demon Slayer anime began in 2019 with a first TV season, and is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Koyoharu Gotouge.
