Netflix Unveils Thrilling New Trailer for Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft Season 2

Netflix has unveiled a new official trailer for the upcoming second season of the Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series earlier this week. Season two is expected to begin streaming on Netflix, starting on December 11, 2025.

Variety previously reported earlier this September that the second season would be the show’s final season. Season two was first announced in October 2024 after the end of season one, which contained eight episodes and began streaming on Netflix on October 10, 2024.

Netflix describes the second season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft as:

When adventurer Lara Croft (voiced by Hayley Atwell) discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, she joins forces with her best friend Sam to retrieve the precious artifacts. Lara’s thrilling new adventure takes her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.

Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja) is serving as the showrunner and lead writer. Powerhouse Animation is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the main voice cast stars Hayley Atwell as Lara Croft, Allen Maldonado as Zip, and Earl Baylon as Jonah Maiava.

Other cast members include:

  • • Karen Fukuhara as Sam Nishimura
  • • O-T Fagbenle as Eshu
  • • Richard Armitage as Charles Devereaux
  • • Zoe Boyle as Camilla Roth
  • • Nolan North as Conrad Roth
  • • Ming-Na Wen as Eva

Netflix first announced the Tomb Raider animated series in 2021. It takes place after the “Survivor Trilogy” games, which serve as a reboot of the action-adventure video game series that were released between 2013 and 2018.

The first Tomb Raider game was released in 1996 for Sega Saturn, MS-Dos, and PlayStation. After the 2003 Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness game, the series’ main developer switched from Core Design to Crystal Dynamics (who are also involved as producers in the new series). The Survivor trilogy was preceded by another reboot trilogy (released between 2006 to 2009) that is now called The Tomb Raider Trilogy, with the second entry being a remake of the original Tomb Raider.

The long-running video game franchise also inspired two live-action film adaptations in 2001 and 2003, and a reboot in 2018. Another live-action TV series is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video.

Netflix describes the first season Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft as:

The animated series TOMB RAIDER: THE LEGEND OF LARA CROFT picks up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider video game Survivor trilogy (Tomb Raider; Rise of the Tomb Raider; Shadow of the Tomb Raider), and will chart the globetrotting heroine’s next chapter as the iconic adventurer. More than 25 years after her first appearance, Lara Croft (voiced by Hayley Atwell) continues to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths across breathtaking and dangerous destinations.
