This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2026: Silent Witch, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Among Winners

A couple of days ahead of the This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2026 guide book’s release, a number of the ranking results have been revealed by the relevant publishers as well as the series’ social media accounts. 

The winner of the general ranking, as well as the bunko and new bunko work categories, is Asobi no Kankei, the new romantic comedy from Gamers!‘s Sekina Aoi. The premise revolves around a boardgame cafe, with the main characters including the cafe owner and a part-time worker. The books are published under KADOKAWA’s FANTASIA Bunko label and illustrated by Kurehito Misaki.

Coincidentally, Asobi no Kankei shares a link with previous general ranking winner Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! — Hikaru Tono, who voices Makeine character Anna Yanami in the TV anime, provides the narration and voices the said part-time worker Mifuru Takanashi in Asobi no Kankei‘s promotional videos.

Secrets of The Silent Witch, the KADOKAWA BOOKS light novel series written by Matsuri Isora and illustrated by Nanna Fujimi, placed first in the tankobon/novel category. The books, which follow a shy mage whose accomplishments include the ability to use magic without chanting, inspired a TV anime which aired during the Summer 2025 anime season.

Other winners include Kentaro Honjo‘s reincarnated-as-a-king isekai Nanji, Ankun o Aiseyo (DRE Novels label, illustrated by toi8) in the new tankobon/novel category and The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten‘s Hanekoto in the illustrator category (the The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten series placed second in the general and bunko rankings).

The This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2026 guide book will be released in Japan on November 27. The series is published by Takarajimasha. The first issue, This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2005, was released in November 2004.
