K-Pop Manga Girl Crush Gets Anime

A TV anime adaptation of the K-Pop-themed Girl Crush manga has been announced with a visual drawn by creator Midori Tayama. TBS Television and ENISHIYA are credited with planning and production (written with the katakana プロヂュース [“produce”], instead of the kanji referring to hands-on production or the kanji for production committee-type production).

The manga is serialized on LINE Manga and has five print volumes published by Shinchosha (nine digital ones) as of November. VIZ Media’s synopsis reads:

Inspired by Erian’s sincerity (and her own unexpected jealousy), Tenka decides that she’s going to audition at a famous Korean talent agency. But although her research powers and ability to memorize moves have helped Tenka excel in the past, the judges seem to be looking for something more than just flawless technique. Does Tenka have a chance at becoming an idol when the only thing she’s good at is being perfect?

In 2021, Girl Crush won the new work award at the RIDIBOOKS COMIC AWARD, hosted by South Korea’s RIDI Corporation.
