The Eiga Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjo anime movie has received a main visual, depicting Doraemon, Nobita and friends riding a car under the sea. The film is set for a February 27, 2026 release in Japan.
The movie was revealed in September of this year with a teaser visual and teaser video. It is a remake of 1983’s Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil (Doraemon: Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjo) and the 45th entry in the Doraemon anime film series.
Eiga Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjo‘s director is Tetsuo Yajima (Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle director, Summer Time Rendering Episode 15 storyboard artist and director, DAN DA DAN Season 2 Episode 8 storyboard artist), who has had some prior involvement with the franchise (such as being a unit director on Doraemon: Nobita’s Earth Symphony). Isao Murayama (Mahoutsukai Precure! and Mahoutsukai Precure!! ~Mirai Days~ series composer) is the script writer.
The Doraemon manga by the late duo Fujiko F. Fujio began serialization in 1969 under publisher Shogakukan. 46 tankobon volumes were published between 1974 to 1996 under the Tentomushi Comics label. A Volume 0 was released in 2019.
The first Doraemon TV anime series began airing in 1973. The current TV series began in 2005. 1980’s Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur was the first anime film in the franchise.
