A TV anime adaptation of the Killed Again, Mr. Detective? light novel series (not to be confused with The Detective Is Already Dead) has been announced with an April 2026 premiere window.

The light novel series, published under KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J label, features a teenage detective who has a legendary detective for a father, a capable assistant, and the ability to revive from death. Rikuya Yasuda is voicing the said teenage detective, Sakuya Outsuki, in the anime, while Shion Wakayama is assistant Lilithea.

Meanwhile, the anime’s production credits include:

• Director: Takashi Naoya (Übel Blatt, Tale of Wedding Rings)
• Series composer: Mio Inoue (A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace)
• Character designer: Akiko Kumada
• Animation production: LIDENFILMS

Killed Again, Mr. Detective?‘s (Mata Korosareteshimatta no desune, Tantei-sama) first volume came out in August 2021, and Volume Six will be released in Japan on November 25, 2025. The books are authored by Teniwoha and illustrated by Riichu. There is a manga as well, which Yen Press describes as such:

Sakuya Outsuki is the son of a legendary detective, striving to follow in his father’s footsteps with the help of his assistant, Lilithea. This isn’t your average high-school sleuth, though-because he comes back to life every time he’s killed! Being a little too familiar with death and always awakening to Lilithea by his side, Sakuya’s happy to take on low-risk cases. Surely investigating a movie producer’s affair on a luxury cruise ship won’t pose any real threat! But when the duo ends up entangled in a larger and bloodier situation, Sakuya will have to get to the bottom of the mystery…and die trying!
