Mahiru Becomes an Idol in Newly Released Visual & Cover Song for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

A new visual and song cover video have been released for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten TV anime series. The anime’s second season is expected to begin broadcasting in Japan in April 2026.

The newly released visual depicts the lead heroine, Mahiru Shiina, performing as an idol. The visual’s release is part of a new idol-themed project centered on the character, which recently opened an official website and Twitter/X account.

In addition, a video featuring a cover of Seiko Matsuda’s 1980 song “Aoi Sangoshou” (“Blue Lagoon”) has also been released, which is performed by Mahiru’s voice actress Manaka Iwami. The cover song is now available on music streaming platforms and for purchase in stores.

Chihiro Kumano (Unnamed Memory assistant director, director of the upcoming The Kept Man of the Princess Knight) is the new director for season two. The previous season’s director was Kenichi Imaizumi (Kingdom Season 3 to 5 and After School Dice Club director), but sometime before the show premiered, the credits changed to list Lihua Wang/Reika Ou as director and Imaizumi as supervisor.

Keiichiro Ochi and Takayuki Noguchi are returning as the screenwriter and character designer, respectively, along with N-Nei Kurahashi as sub-character designer. Project No.9 is handling the animation production again, as it did with season one.

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast stars:

  • • Taito Ban as Amane Fujimiya
  • • Manaka Iwami as Mahiru Shiina
  • • Taku Yashiro as Itsuki Akasawa
  • • Haruka Shiraishi as Chitose Shirakawa

The original light novel series is written by Saekisan and illustrated by Hanekoto, starting from the second volume onwards. The anime’s first season ran from January 2023 to March 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired in Japan. It describes the main premise of the series as:

To thank him for his kind gesture, Mahiru cooks and cleans for her untidy neighbor Amane. But what was just a generous show of gratitude turns into more as they grow closer. This is the story of a sweet romance between a boy and the girl next door.
