Man and Mouse Develop Friendship in Clip from The Obsessed

Days away from its November 7 JST Japanese theatrical release, anime musical film The Obsessed (Toritsukare Otoko) has received a preview clip that depicts the meeting of protagonist Giuseppe (idol Masaya Sano) and the mouse Cielo (Hayato Kakizawa).

Watch the friends bathe together, feast together, and converse in the language of mice:

The Obsessed is an adaptation of the novel by Shinji Ishii. It’s a romance where Giuseppe, who alternates between different obsessions, has his eye caught by balloon seller Pechka. Here’s the synopsis from Tokyo International Film Festival 2025:

Giuseppe jumps from obsession to obsession ― singing, embroidery, private investigation ― until he meets Pechka, a quiet balloon seller. For the first time, he wants to stay, and in trying to brighten her world, he discovers a passion worth holding onto.

The original novel was first released in 2001 by Billiken. A bunkoban release from Shinchosha followed in 2006.
