Three “Special Episodes” of My Happy Marriage are set to debut on Netflix in 2026. A visual of Miyo Saimori (Reina Ueda) and Kiyoka Kudo (Kaito Ishikawa), the former in a wedding kimono, was released with the announcement.
Takehiro Kubota (Season 1 director and Season 2 co-director) is the director for the new “series.”
My Happy Marriage adapts the KADOKAWA-published historical fantasy romance novels written by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka, which sees the mistreated Miyo becoming betrothed to the powerful commander Kiyoka. The first season premiered in 2023, while Season 2 premiered in January 2025. An OVA was released in November 2024.
Season 2’s last two episodes received delays, causing the finale to debut in Japan on April 9, 2025. The announcement of a new My Happy Marriage anime was made on that date.
The light novel series, which is published under the Fujimi L Bunko label, started in January 2019 and has eight volumes as of March 2024. There is a Square Enix-published manga drawn by Rito Kosaka and a live-action movie adaptation.
Yen Press describes the light novels as such:
IS THIS MARRIAGE A BLESSING? OR A CURSE?
Born talentless to a noble family famous for their supernatural abilities, Miyo Saimori is forced into an existence of servitude by her abusive stepmother. When Miyo finally comes of marriageable age, though, her hopes of being whisked away to a better life crumble after she discovers her fiancé’s identity: Kiyoka Kudou, a commander apparently so cold and cruel that his previous would-be brides all fled within three days of their engagements. With no home to return to, Miyo resigns herself to her fate—and soon finds that her pale and beautiful husband-to-be is anything but the monster she expected. As they slowly open their hearts to each other, both realize the other may be their chance at finding true love and happiness.
