Scum of the Brave Adds Ayako Kawasumi & Haruki Ishiya to Voice Cast

Two new voice cast members have been added for the ongoing Scum of the Brave TV anime series. The anime debuted in Japan on January 10, 2026 and will air for two consecutive cours.

The new cast members joining the series include Ayako Kawasumi as Levi (left) and Haruki Ishiya as Ido (right). Both characters will appear in the upcoming sixth episode. 

They join a main voice cast that stars: 

  • • Ryota Suzuki as Shinigami Yashiro
  • • Akari Kito as Aki Jogamine
  • • Momo Harumi as Yukine Indo
  • • Yumiri Hanamori as Saera Kashiwagi Pendragon

Shinji Ushiro (Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack) is directing the anime series, with Yoichi Kato as series composer and scriptwriter, and Rika Murakami as character designer. OLM is handling the animation production. 

The light novel series is written by Rocket Shokai (Sentenced to Be a Hero original author) and illustrated by Yuya Kusaka, and was first published under the KADOKAWA Books imprint on December 24, 2016. A new version with revisions and illustrations from toi8 was announced by Shueisha to be released this year. 

The series began as a Kakuyomu web novel in 2016. The light novel also inspired a manga adaptation by Nakashima723 in 2018, which has been published digitally in English on Manga Planet

Crunchyroll is streaming Scum of the Brave in select countries and territories worldwide. It describes the main premise as: 

In the mid-21st century, Tokyo’s mafia can turn into ether-enhanced Demon Lords, and Braves hunt them down. Yashiro, the Grim Reaper, reluctantly takes a new apprentice named Aki Jogamine, a high school girl training to become a Brave. He soon finds himself dragged into one troublesome case after another. The supernatural story of a scumbag master and his self-proclaimed apprentice begins!
