The Snowball Earth TV anime has received a teaser trailer and teaser visual, as well as an April 2026 premiere window.
It was also revealed that the cast includes:
• Takuto Yoshinaga as Tetsuo Yabusame
• Daisuke Hirakawa as Yukio
• Ami Koshimizu as Ao Nogi
• Konomi Tamura as Hagane Takimura
Snowball Earth is based on the manga by Yuhiro Tsujitsugu, which started serialization in Shogakukan’s Monthly Big Comic Spirits in 2021 and has nine volumes as of July 2025. Viz Media describes the story as such:
Yukio was destroyed in battle and Tetsuo survived in an escape pod. After eight years in cold sleep, the escape pod finally lands back on Earth. But when Tetsuo emerges he finds a world in ruins, entirely frozen beneath a blanket of ice and snow—snowball Earth! What happened to humanity, how did the planet freeze over, and will Tetsuo be able to keep his last promise to Yukio?
The manga received Spirits Award in 2019.
