Steins;Gate Re:Boot Gets Brief Gameplay Preview

Spike Chunsoft and MAGES. have unveiled a short preview of the upcoming Steins;Gate Re:Boot‘s gameplay, with the footage including what looks like Live2D animation.

Image previews of the Steins;Gate remake were released a few days prior. The preview drop accompanied the release date delay from 2025 to 2026.

Another recent reveal, made at WePlay Expo 2025, was that Steins;Gate Re:Boot‘s scenario is based on the Steins;Gate Elite remaster and has one new ending.

Steins;Gate Re:Boot was announced in 2024 and is currently listed on Steam with English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese support. The short description says that it has “fully updated visuals, UI, and an all-new story that breathes new life into the streets of Akihabara.”

The premise is described as such:

STEINS;GATE follows a ragtag group of tech-savvy students led by Rintaro Okabe, whose latest invention accidentally gains the ability to send messages to the past, unleashing the power to alter history itself.

As global conspiracies stir and timelines begin to twist, the curtain rises on a future steeped in chaos.

The original Steins;Gate visual novel was first released on Xbox 360 in October 2009 and was developed by 5pb., which merged with AG-ONE to become current developer MAGES in 2011. It inspired a TV anime, with Steins;Gate Elite using the show’s footage as well as new animation sequences, and an anime movie.

There is also a midquel titled Steins;Gate 0 with its own anime and a number of spin-offs. Steins;Gate is part of the wider Science Adventure series that includes titles like Chaos;Head, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Child, Occultic;Nine, and Anonymous;Code.
