Manga creator and illustrator Minori Chigusa, whose yuri works include the Shino & Ren and Convenient Semi-Friend manga, is voicing a character in the upcoming yuri visual novel Watamari Part2 – A Fake Marriage? This is her first voice-acting role.
Chigusa’s character, whose preview portrait illustration was drawn by the artist herself, is a new teacher named Yukinobu Mishima. Yukinobu is described as a kind yet strong-willed individual who was cohabitating with another character, the self-proclaimed NEET and currently missing Love Tatsuhime. Her bio says that she left home due to her father not approving of her relationship with Love, which began in college, and that the couple broke up two months before Yukinobu assumed her teacher’s post.
Chigusa is also one of the game’s character illustrators, alongside Yuama (Tayutau Koi no Chirigiwa ni, BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! Swaying in the Rain, Looking for the Sunshine artist), syuri22 (BOOGEY VOXX VTuber character designer), Aru Kaneko (Insecure Herami Sisters), and others.
Watamari Part2 – A Fake Marriage? is a sequel to 2022’s Watamari Part1 – A Match Made in Heaven and is set to be released in 2026 on Steam with English and Simplified Chinese support. A crowdfunding campaign on Soreosu was launched on November 25 at 6 PM JST and will end on January 11 at 11:59 PM JST. The Kuro Irodoru Yomiji-developed game has raised 469 thousand yen out of its 1 million yen (~US$6,390) goal at the time of writing.
Here’s the premise:
Yata Hime has infiltrated the academy on a mission to root out its secrets.
Hoshino Hikari is another spy sent to the school, and in order to cover for her careless comments, Hime starts a fake relationship with her. But due to a charm spell that Hikari cast unintentionally, Hime has fallen in love with her.
As she tries to accomplish her mission as a spy and looks for a way to break the spell, the feelings between Hikari and Hime begin to change…
The academy’s problem child, Yakumo Nene, secretly uses her “imaginary angels” in order to make some of the women there fall in love with each other. And today, she orders one of her angels (you) to bring Hikari and Hime closer together.
Watamari Part2 – A Fake Marriage?‘s listed features include Live2D animation and a “Yuri-focused UI that displays two character’s feelings for each other as if reading a yuri manga.” The Steam store page also says that the player “isn’t the main character, but an angel that works for one of the game’s other characters, who guides the main characters to the choices that they will make.”
Beyond the previously mentioned titles, Chigusa’s credits include Kokoro Irozuku Koi ga Shitai (creator), Jitsu wa Imoto Deshita (illustrator), Girls x Vampire (manga artist), and The High School Girl Came To Buy Adult Toys (illustrator). She handled the character designers for VTubers Siden Lime, Fuzuki Miki, and Victoria Valerie. Chigusa debuted as a manga artist before she was 20.
