The upcoming Whoever Steals This Book (Kono Hon o Nusumu Mono wa) anime film has received a character trailer for Mifuyu, one of the leads.
Whoever Steals This Book is set to premiere on December 26, 2025 JST, after being previously slated for a 2026 release. It’s based on the KADOKAWA-published book from Nowaki Fukamidori, in which the book-disliking high school girl Mifuyu tries to save her town after a theft activates a curse that plunges the place into the world of fiction.
The Whoever Steals This Book book was first released in 2020 and was nominated at the 2021 Honya Taisho: Booksellers’ Award. Yen Press, which has also licensed the manga adaptation by Kakeru Sora, describes the premise as such:
Mifuyu is a high school student living with a large collection of books left by her great-grandfather—the vast library known as Mikura Hall. Although her father is the current caretaker, Mifuyu herself doesn’t share her family’s passion for literature. But when several books are stolen from the library, triggering an ancient curse, the town is transformed according to the stories within them—and the only way to put things right is for Mifuyu to catch the thief. With the help of a mysterious girl named Mashiro, Mifuyu sets out on an adventure through the different stories!
