The Azur Lane franchise began as a side-scrolling shooter mobile game that was first released in 2017. It inspired a 2019 television anime series from Bibury Animation Studios and the Queen’s Orders OVA that was released in July 2023.

The premise of Azur Lane sees the fleets of the titular organization combating a threat known as the Sirens. Google Play describes the game as a “mix of RPG, 2D shooter and tactical genres.”
