A short promotional video has been released for the upcoming From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Ⅱ TV anime series, which highlights its main ending theme song. The second season is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on July 8, 2026.
The ending theme for the anime’s second season is “Mikansei” by Japanese rock band BLUE ENCOUNT.
Akio Kazumi (Fist of the Blue Sky Re: Genesis) is directing the second season, with Kunihiko Okada (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy) as series composer, Satsuki Hayasaka (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy co-character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, and Nozomu Koga (new) and Masaru Kawashima (new) as assistant directors. Passione and Hayabusa Film are handling the animation production.

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Ⅱ will exclusively stream on Prime Video worldwide in select countries and territories. The first season premiered on April 6, 2025 and ran for 12 episodes until June 22, 2025.
The main synopsis for the second season is described as:
Beryl Gardenant is a middle-aged swordsman instructor. Now, he is serving as a special instructor for the Knightly Order and a guardian to orphans, He has gradually settled into life in the capital. Yet, the world around him refused to grant Beryl any peace.
As a swordsman, as a man, Beryl faces a new battle he cannot avoid.
The fantasy light novel series is written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. It was first published by Square Enix’s SQUEX Novel imprint on April 7, 2021, with 10 volumes being released in Japan as of December 2025. The series began as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel on November 17, 2020. J-Novel Club licensed the light novels for English digital release.
A manga adaptation by Kazuki Sato was launched in Akita Shoten’s web magazine Dokodemo Young Champion on August 24, 2021. Eight tankobon volumes have been released in Japan as of December 2025. Yen Press releases the manga in English for North America. WEBTOON released its own version of the manga in May 2025.
Two manga spinoff series were also released in November 2024 and February 2025.
