GKIDS has announced that it will bring a new 4K remaster of Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name to North American theatres for its 10th anniversary, starting on August 14, 2026, in both its original Japanese language and in English dub. Ticket sales will be announced later this month.
New key art for Your Name’s 4K screening was also revealed at GKIDS’ industry panel at Anime Expo 2026.
In addition, the company will release new 4K Ultra HD Steelbook and Blu-Ray discs for the anime film on August 25, 2026, which are now available for pre-order. Both of them will be distributed by Shout! Studios.
Shinkai directed and wrote the screenplay for Your Name at CoMix Wave Films. Japanese rock band Radwimps composed the music score.
The anime film first premiered in Japan on August 26, 2016 and grossed a total of 25.17 billion yen (US$155 million), becoming one of highest grossing films in the country. It was screened in North American theaters on April 7, 2017.

One morning, rural schoolgirl Mitsuha and city kid Taki awaken to discover that they’ve switched bodies. The total strangers struggle to navigate each other’s lives, walking tightropes of intimacy and distance. But when they finally resolve to meet, the true nature of their connection threatens to seal their fate.
