Indie CG anime title Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express Movie (Ginga Tokyu Milky☆Subway Kakuekiteisha Gekijo Iki) is getting a Netflix release on June 1. The film previously began screening in Japan on February 6.
The movie is a compilation of the Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express series, a follow-up to creator and director Yohei Kameyama‘s 2022 short and graduation project Milky☆Highway, with new scenes. The premise sees the “super human” Chiharu (Momoka Terasawa) and cyborg Makina (Anna Nagase) being forced to clean the titular Milky☆Subway as punishment for reckless driving, only to be swept up in an unexpected adventure.
Aside from creating and directing, Kameyama is also credited with the script, character designs, sound direction, and production for Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express Movie. Shin-Ei Animation has a planning production credit.
The synopsis reads:
Arrested for reckless space driving, super human Chiharu and cyborg Makina are sentenced to clean the Milky☆Subway—an old interplanetary train. Easy enough, right? Wrong. When the train suddenly takes off, they are thrown into a high-speed space-train spectacle packed with chaos, no plans, and zero strategy. Just pure momentum!
Netflix also announced that Blue Lock VS. U-20 Japan and My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 will come to the platform on May 25, while June 1 will also see additions of Assassination Classroom Season 2, Shangri-La Frontier Season 2, and One Piece: Whole Cake Island 6 and 7.
