A main trailer for Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dear Friend has been released, following multiple character-starring memorial visuals. It was also announced that a special visual will be released on June 16.
Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dear Friend will begin screening in Japan on October 16. The conclusion to the Rascal Does Not Dream (Seishun Butayaro) anime series, about a teenager who helps girls suffering varying effects from the supernatural Adolescence Syndrome, takes its name from the original light novel series’ 15th and final main volume, the synopsis of which Yen Press describes as such:
As the truth about Miori and Touko Kirishima comes to light, Sakuta must make a choice that will decide everything…for him…for Mai…for Shouko…for Miori…and for Touko. Only one thing’s for sure—whatever happens, this will be his final bout of Adolescence Syndrome!
The anime adaptation started with a 2018 TV series, titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai like the first light novel volume, and also consists of a 2019 movie, two 2023 films, and 2025’s Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus.
The light novel series, which comes from The Pet Girl of Sakurasou duo of Hajime Kamoshida (writer) and Keji Mizoguchi (illustrator) and is published under KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Bunko label, began in 2014. Volume 15 was released in 2024. A second short story collection will be released on October 9, 2026.
Some of the main stories have inspired manga adaptations.
