A second trailer for The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 has been released, along with details about the show’s theme songs.
The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 was supposed to begin airing this July, but ended up being delayed to October. The anime’s first season aired in 2021, not long after the KADOKAWA-published, Umibouzu-illustrated light novel series it is based on began publication in 2019. Yen Press describes the light novels’ synopsis as such:
Kimitsuka Kimihiko was the assistant to a beautiful detective named Siesta — until Siesta died, anyway. Now, Kimitsuka has encountered a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to his former boss…
The Detective Is Already Dead light novel series, which is the recipient of the 15th MF Bunko J Light Novel Rookie of the Year award, has 13 volumes as of 2025. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation as well as manga and light novel spin-offs.
