The Saga of Tanya the Evil II is set to begin airing on July 8. A second key visual was released with the news.
Additionally, it was revealed that the opening song is “Why? RED induction” by MYTH & ROID, while the ending song is “Weiter! Weiter!” by the anime’s protagonist Tanya Degurechaff (voiced by Aoi Yuki).
The Saga of Tanya the Evil (Yoko Senki) is based on the KADOKAWA-published light novel series by Carlo Zen. The premise sees a salaryman being reincarnated as a girl and becoming a dangerous military mage. Yen Press’ synopsis of the light novels reads:
High above the blood- and mud-soaked trenches, a young girl pits herself against army mages in high stakes aerial duels with bullets, spells, and bayonets. Her name is Tanya Degurechaff and she is the Devil of the Rhine, one of the greatest soldiers the Empire has ever seen! But inside her mind lives a ruthless, calculating ex-salaryman who enjoyed a peaceful life in Japan until he woke up in a war-torn world. Reborn as a destitute orphaned girl with nothing to her name but memories of a previous life, Tanya will do whatever it takes to survive, even if she can find it only behind the barrel of a gun!
The anime’s first season debuted in 2017 and was followed by a 2019 movie. Season 2 was announced in 2021. During the series’ absence, the cast of The Saga of Tanya the Evil appeared in the crossover short anime spinoff Isekai Quartet.
The Saga of Tanya the Evil light novels, which are illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki, began in 2016 and have 14 volumes as of 2023. There is a manga by Chika Tojo, as well as a manga spin-off titled Yoko Senki Shokudo. The story was originally a web novel on Arcadia.
