Yuri!!! on Ice Gets 10th Anniversary Visual

A 10th anniversary visual for the 2016 TV anime Yuri!!! on Ice, drawn by character designer Tadashi Hiramatsu (Jujutsu Kaisen, His and Her Circumstances), has been released. A 10th anniversary Blu-ray box set was also announced and will go on sale on December 23.

Aside from past special features, the anniversary box set will have a video of figure skating coach Stéphane Lambiel performing the choreography for protagonist Yuri Katsuki. There are also some included items that will be revealed in the future.

Yuri!!! on Ice aired during the Fall 2016 anime season. Crunchyroll describes the TV anime’s synopsis as such:

Yuri Katsuki carried the hope of all Japan on his shoulders in the Figure Skating Grand Prix, but suffered a crushing defeat in the finals. He returned to his hometown in Kyushu and hid away in his family’s home, half wanting to continue skating and half wanting to retire. That was when the five-time consecutive world champion, Victor Nikiforov, suddenly showed up with his teammate, Yuri Plisetsky, a young skater starting to surpass his seniors. And so the two Yuris and the Russian champion Viktor set out to compete in a Grand Prix like none the world has ever seen!

Yuri on Ice!!! was directed by Sayo Yamamoto (Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and SEX: Prologue director), who also handled the story composition. Other core members include manga artist Mitsuro Kubo as draft writer and original character designer and Jun Shishido (Attack on Titan Final Season) as chief episode director. MAPPA was the animation production studio.

A movie titled Yuri!!! on Ice the movie : Ice Adolescence was announced in April 2017, and its cancellation revealed in April 2024. “The production committee and staff have been in constant discussions to create and deliver the movie, but due to various circumstances, we have had to make the difficult decision to stop the production,” said the cancellation announcement.
