Jan Akiyama Enters the Kitchen in Fiery Iron Wok Jan Character Trailer

A character trailer has been released for the upcoming Iron Wok Jan TV anime series, highlighting the fiery Jan Akiyama and his chaotic cooking skills in the kitchen. The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan sometime in 2026. 

Ei Aoki (Overtake, Re: CREATORS, Aldnoah Zero) is directing the anime series, with Makoto Uezu (KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!) as series composer, Masako Matsumoto (Overtake!, Aldnoah Zero) as character designer, Atsushi Okuda (Shinobi no Ittoki main animator) and Chihiro Hanamura as food animation directors, and Ryuichi Makino (Wandering Son character designer) as action animator. TROYCA is handling the animation production. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast stars: 

  • • Kikunosuke Toya as Jan Akiyama
  • • Ikumi Hasegawa as Kiriko Gobancho
  • • Kohei Amasaki as Takao Okonogi
  • • Kenjiro Tsuda as Narrator 

The anime adaptation is based on the cooking manga series created by Shinji Saijo and supervised by Keiko Koyama. It was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion from 1995 to 2000. A total of 27 tankobon volumes were released in Japan. The manga also inspired several sequels and spinoff titles.

Iron Wok Jan was previously released in English by the now-defunct ComicsOne and DrMaster. The first volume is described by the latter as:  

Young, arrogant Jan, determined to be named the best cook, competes in local and nationwide competitions and does not lose his focus, even when his cooking makes some sick and other chefs sabotage him.
